we singaporeans are guilty of abusing the word "cheap". just look around the people around you and conduct this little test: when your friends or colleagues noticed that you bought something new, just say that you bought the item at a "good price" (eg 20%-30% discount/lower than retail price), their immediate reaction will be eyes open big big and exclaimed "wow! so CHEAP!". it not that "cheap" is grammatically incorrect, but the word in this context simply sounds awkward.. its like bringing down the value of the item... i'm also guilty of this but i'm trying to change by using words and phases such as "its value for money" or "its a good buy" rather than "cheap". isn't it better sounding?
