'grapevine thinking' is prevalent in my office as we are discussing over lunch the latest policy that is going to be (or most probably be) implemented in my company, ie elimination of all dental, medical and insurance benefits. the end result? a $50 'increment' per month for all employees.

although i dun really benefit much from all these medical stuffs (i only seen the company doctor once for my one year there), i do not support the exchange of benefits for a mere $50. what kind of company is this? are employees simply just equal to liabilities column in the company's balance sheet? if the company simply trying to cut cost till the point where every benefit is taken away from the employees, i really cannot see how the company is trying to groom its workers...

i can foresee employees leaving soon.. especially younger ones...

and they will have problem trying to hire new people. imagine you are attending my company's interview and the interviewer tells you that "we do not offer medical, dental, insurance benefits..., and we give u 11 days of leave per year.." what will your reaction be? freaking pathetic right? mind you, the company i work for is a MNC k.. oh yah.. the pay is not that fantastic hor...

anyway july is coming. in my company, july is the period of time where the employee annual evaluation is carried out. so you understand why the HR manager can think of such a thing at this point in time? one of my colleague was telling me the other day that another of my colleague is accumulating his work by not doing them so that he will make himself look hardworking and busy during the evaluation period so as to score some points..

are people really like that? i'm not so sure thou...
