this post was supposed to be yesterday's, however blogger was done then.. =(

anyway, for those who haven't been following with the news in singapore recently, its my social duty to inform you that the price of movie ticket is going for another hike AGAIN, since the last was in 2001. fuck man.. now a tix on friday evening and weekend will cost $1 more at $9.50! even the cheapest tickets will cost $7.50 now... kaozz... now watching movie will cost almost $20 per pair! i feel that its simply ridiculous! i can't help to worry about the ricebowls of these cinema operators.. continuous rising price is definitely not the best way to solve their higher costs of operations, although this is the fastest and no-brainer way. if price increase to a point where consumers are not willing to pay for a ticket to the cinema for the show they want to watch, they can simply avoid watching it altogether or resort to legal/illegal VCD/DVD. currently legal VCDs are selling at rock bottom price and it certainly makes economic sense to wait for it so that the whole family can enjoy by only paying for the price of one! at the end of the day, they will see their revenue falling further! when that happens, will another round of price hike helps?

i wonder if they ever study basic economics...

seriously, $9.50 for 2 hrs of entertainment is not cheap, and with that money people can spend it elsewhere where they derive higher value.. imagine in the near future where a movie ticket costs $15! damn.. i wonder how many will still patronise cinemas then....
