finally the 3 sessions of the children charity shows were over, at least for the time being.

as i've said before in my previous entries, i dun like this kind of charity show where the organisation(s) involved try means and ways to get each dollar from us, be it using the stories of patients or simply the money carrots. i hate the one especially where the advertisement tempt the viewers to call their hotline at 1900-112888x/3x/5x within 5 minutes so that you can have the chance to win $5000. if you are observant enough, you will probably notice that not a single word is about charity, nor what and who the donation is helping. instead, its about of winning and winning of money. so is that what charity is all about?

i'm more disgusted when they invite the winners to appear in commericals to say

"i'm so happy to win so much money and prizes! when we do charity we should not care about returns or about winning prizes...."

bullshit! if you are not interested in the prizes, the hotline is available for so many weeks, why must you call at that particular 5 minutes? dun tell me you need the commerical to remind you to do something for the charity, and it so happened that it must be during that 5 minutes? if you are really so kind, why not donate them to community chest or other charitable organisations other than N*F so that many others can benefit from it also?

i really miss those days where charity shows are simple affairs of singing by overseas/local artists as well as some little tricks that are humourous instead of trying to use pain to stimulate your pity...
