something interesting happened at the esplanade a few days ago. a female doctor was nursing her son and a security guard came up to her and request her to leave the place and nurse the child elsewhere. the furious mum ignore the security guard and continued to nurse her child. after the incident she wrote to the press and complaint about this matter. its even reported that the security guard and her had a small argument and attracted much attention from the public.

and to protest against this act, several mothers gathered at the esplanade today to nurse their children in public and were even interviewed and photographed.

interesting huh?

seriously i dun think nursing in public is anything disgraceful or undesirable. i believe the mothers will have taken the necessary 'precautions' to prevent any accidental 'exposure' in public. furthermore, feeding breast milk is the best thing that a mother can give to her child so why should nursing in public be a taboo, especially in a liberal and open society such as singapore? usually the mothers will do it discretely at a corner and i dun think it will affect the others so i dun understand why the security guard wana chase the mother away. i wonder if there are any similar incidents elsewhere that are unreported. if there are then i realli disappointed that singapore is still rather backward in our mindset disregard our advancement in other areas...
