i got a job as an engineer! yeah! juz confirmed when i went for the 2nd interview this noon. this time round is the HR manager i think. rather friendly as we exchange some jokes and some of our viewpoints on a few issues about human resource management. anyway to keep things short, here is the basic summary:

1. start work on tues (15/06)
2. 5 days week
3. 11 days leave (up to max of 15 days) -_______-"
4. uniform provided

million $$$ question: salary? well... its above $2k and is a reasonable salary... tats all i'll reveal..

i guess its not easy to find a job that relates closely to what you study and i'm glad that i'm able to find one, somemore its my first job! so for those who are graduating the same year as me or are looking for their first job dun be despair if you kena rejected by other jobs coz the time is not ripe yet. anyway this job is the 6th interview i went for and i've lost count on the number of resumes + cover letters i sent to secure the 6 interviews.

my advices to secure an interview:
(use them at your own risk)
1. always send cover letter with resume. i believe those w/o cover letters will be considered as "insincere" by the HR. also if you dun have nice results, cover letter is the only supplement to help you.
2. your cover letter must be as 'fanciful' as possible, listing all your past experiences, your interest in the job, blah blah.. aka promote yourself.
3. include a "professional" looking photo if possible in the resume. scan and paste it there if possible. a picture speaks a thousand words you know?
4. resume only include those things you need for the job. keep within 2-3 pages. dun need to list all the other non-relevant stuffs as the interviewers will not be interested. short and sweet and focus on your strong points is the key.

my advices during an interview:
(use them at your own risk)
1. wear formally.
2. lean slightly forward to 'look interested' (although you may be damn not interested)
3. go thru the 'commonly asked questions list' and think thru the answers for the questions. you will surely be asked one or two questions so prepare.
4. try to talk more. dun juz give a few words answer. try to relate experiences, qualifications, etc to the answers.
5. look confident.
6. learn how to 'twist' the answers to counter the questions. many times the interviewers like to ask some questions that you may not be able to answer. think quick and try to turn around the question. that requires some practice.

anyway the above are some of my personal experiences + some advices i found from websites + advices from a HR manager when i attended one of the interviews. hope that helps. =)
