ever since i started working, every morning without fail, i'll walk to the mrt station and on the way grab a copy of the free morning papers. its been quite sometime since the papers were given free. i still remember those earlier days that i seen with my own eyes where people crowd around the place where the papers will be distributed. once the papers were unloaded, all will flock and grab whatever they could where some grab more than what their eyes can read. there is totally no self control and i remembered clearly there is once where a fight nearly broke up because of it! its realli an ugly sight, especially the term 'ugly singaporeans' is very commonly used at that time.
i notice that this situation is no longer in sight. at the cck mrt station where i collect my papers daily, there is always an orderly queue to collect the papers from the indian guy who is distributing the papers. i dun see anyone trying to cut queue or collect more than a copy. even when i reach jurong east mrt station i notice the same orderly queue. the ugly sight seems to be just a wink in the past. i think the good and orderly behaviour the its not only at the two mrt stations i mentioned but i believe it to be an islandwide phenomenon.
so who says we singaporeans are ugly?
we are changing for the better!
