my brother is holding not 1, not 2, but THREE donation cards in hand! WTF!!

no.. he did not ask me for donation coz he know i dun anyhow donate one. i'm very selective when it comes to donation. ok lets see the 3 donation cards he has: 1) NKF; 2) St John Ambulance; 3) temple

for the 3rd one i got nothing to say coz it involves religion and i'm a person that loves religion freedom so no comment. for the 2nd one coz he is a st john member and its their "job" to raise funds for it. well... for their own good anyway the $$ is spent..

wat makes me wana rant is the 1st one.. a look at the donation card pissed me off. its like a 3 fold card and the first thing u will see on the card is the various "perks" that the student will get if he/she managed to hit a certain quota. for eg, if u hit $80 u can get a camera free, of if u hit $100 u can get a mini PDA free, or above $150 u will get a webcam free... and if u hit $50 u will receive an extra fan yi chen VCD and even a chance to win his concert tickets or what shit... and mind u... NKF certainly dun waste the space on the card.. the minimum amount is $5!! WTF!

these people really are trying all means and ways to get money, even targetting the students by offering these "perks" to induce them to doing that. i'm really disappointed. i feel that donation is something that comes from the heart. the person asking for the donation should also do it from the heart and the objective of his/her doing should be to help the needy. by offering them such "perks", isn't it trying to brainwash them that "hey! doing the "charity" thing is actually for the benefit of oneself as he/she can get the freebies! although at the end of the day the organization gets the money and the students get the freebies, which may seem to be benefiting both parties, however the key idea behind the act of asking for donation is tarnished. as time goes by, won't the students learn that "if there is no freebies i'll not do it" kind of concept? its terrible!!! what will our society be? what will our people become?

a selfish society;

a society w/o real love for charity, but doing it for the sake of freebies.

its a sad case.... its the start of individual benefit thinking and the end of true volunteerism...
