was on bus 180 when i saw this maly couple and their two young children. both are very cute! i dunno what prompt me to think of the low birthrate in singapore. maybe i'm stereotyped but from what i see on the streets is that malays tend to have a larger family size than chinese, and most of them have 2 or more children. on the other hand, chinese usually have none or usually one child.

what is the reason given by the chinese? ohh... they will say its a burden to bring up one more child as for one child both parents have to work very hard. then what about the malays? how come they can afford to have a larger family? both of the parents also working what... so there seems to be some conflict here huh?

but what i'm trying to drive at is not the above, but the selfish nature of chinese. yeah... u parents say that its expensive and very difficult to afford to bring up a child even with both of you working.... but have you given a thought for your child? if he is the only child, won't his burden be doubled when he grows up as he has to feed both father and mother? so you will rather make your burden less by having one child.. and let your child suffer by taking the burden of taking care of both of you?
