*disclaimer: this is not supposed to be a political posting but a real life account of the sentiments at the ground level*

i chatted with a malay uncle in his late 50s who is also unemployed and he told me of how he felt about the current economic situation. he mentioned that he did not blame the government of the current situation and he understood that the government iis trying very hard to help singaporeans. however what he cannot comprehend is that why it is so difficult for singaporeans in general to land themselves a job? most of us do not want to be under any financial assistance if we can get a job to feed ourselves. however why is it that many jobs still go to people from china, india, malaysia? is it really singaporeans are not worth hiring? is there nothing that the government can do to prevent such a trend from going out of hand, before singaporeans are progressively replaced by our foreign counterparts?

he also mentioned that he and his daughter were previously volunteers with the grassroots organisations before they felt that what they have done were not appreciated, ie they put in time and effort to make thing work but when they need help now they receive nothing...

i really dunno how to motivate this uncle as i share the same sentiments as him. i believe also that he is not the only one who feels this way, but this is a common sentiments for quite a proportion of the singaporeans. if the general public continues to feel that they are becoming more and more inferior as compared to the 'foreign talents', it will be more and more difficult for the others to dissolve into our community as the resistance will become stronger, and the level of discomfort to the ruiling government will escalate...
