sometimes i really dread driving #1.

drive vs ride: safety
its not easy to survive close to 2 hours on the roads/expressways everyday where you have to put your 101% concentration to make sure that you are safe to other road users as well as making sure you are safe from other road users that seems to just finish their pint of whisky prior driving. also, when you are out late at nite, as a driver you have to make sure you survive the trip home by keeping your attention span to the max while others are happily in their dream lands in the cab...

i miss the time where i don't need to worry about anything while travelling. i just board the bus, tap my ezlink card, find a seat and thats it! i don't need to check blindspots, i don't need to suffer the sudden heart attacks from other reckless drivers, and i can sleep my way home if i'm freaking tired.. especially when taking the nite riders...

drive vs ride: time
its also a test of patience to be driving. imagine the journey that takes 25 mins if travelling late at nite which requires about 45 mins during rush hours. if that is not bad enough, wait till an accident is ahead and you can be driving slower than someone who cycles... not forgetting that there is a pair of eyes preying on you when you reach the office late.... *glup*

before i started driving, when i know that there is traffic jam along xxx expressway or in town area, i can always choose to take the mrt and tunnel thru the earth to reach my destination. my sense of time is better too, as i'll usually reach earlier or on-time.. this doesn't seems to be the case now... also there is no need to waste time finding parking!! i just drop off at the destinated stops and go!

drive vs ride: cost
the cost of owning and using a car for me is about $1000 per month... and that does not include insurance, road tax, season parking...

the cost of taking public transport for me in the past will usually not exceed $200 monthly. i wonder how many trips taking cabs i can make with that $1000...

i'm seriously considering taking public transport again.....
