i witnessed an accident! it happened right infront of me!

i was on my way to jurong east mrt station while on board bus no. 78. everything looked so peaceful till the bus stopped at the bus stop across creative resource. as there is a slight jam, the driver decided to let the passengers alight without turning into the bus stopping bay. i was standing near the exit, facing the bus stop. the door opened and a lady, probably in her 30s, step out of the bus. within seconds, i heard a loud scream from the lady and a motorcycle knocked her down! i think the impact thrown her about 1-2 metres away from the place she was standing previously. her husband quickly rushed to attend to her. she fell and was bleeding slightly from the bruises. she was crying out loud with tears flowing. from the way she held her hand, it seems to me that she may have broke her hand due to the fall.

from the way i see it, it seems that both the motorcyclist and the bus driver were at fault. the bus driver, who wanted to save himself some trouble by not turning into the bus stopping bay, created more trouble for himself instead. its against the rules of the company and maybe even the law by not stopping at the destinated bus stopping bay. as its about 6pm, the bus lane is restricted for buses only, so the motorcyclist cannot escape the blame as he was travelling in the bus lane at restricted hours. he probably wanted to cut thru the congestion by taking a 'short cut' thru the bus stopping bay but never did he think that the door of the bus will open and a lady will walk out from it.

i was totally shocked by what i saw just now. every moment of it was captured by my eyes. what others say is true: accidents really strike at a time where we are least expecting it. from now onwards i'll be more careful when i cross the road or alight from the bus...
