from tomolo onwards, all the magnetic farecards will become history in the development of the transport network in SG. yes i still remember i was one of those "pioneer" ones that started using the magnetic farecards. i'm so proud of my magnetic farecard at that time as people will juz look at me with envy and curiousity, a young kid, to us ea totally new technology, and that was when i'm in my primary sch days if i remember correctly. the card can only be used on bus initially. a few months later, they incorporated the use of the card for both MRT and buses. initailly there is only one of those machines in every bus. after the magnetic farecard gain its popularity, the bus companies began to install another one on the bus. when i was in my NS time, the transitlink introduced the GIRO farecard and that realli bring me a whole lot of convenience as i no longer need to go and queue up at the MRT stations to top up my card as my card will automatically top up when the value reach negative. time flies and i've been using the magnetic farecard for more than a decade... technology has advanced and from tomolo onwards the "tap and go" (or ez-link) card will be my travelling companion.... i'll still remember the "red box" after today...
